Scooter Smokescreen

There's an article (link the headline) in the LA Times about Scooter Libby. It's being talked about a lot because it details Scooter's alleged obsession with Joe Wilson and his fierce retaliation against anyone who dissed Cheney. Now this article is clearly written with information from someone on the inside, and there's been a lot of talk (including from me, see below) of how the White House is finally beginning to leak.
I don't believe it. I think that this was planned. This was no leak, it was a plant. This is the beginning of the post-Fitzmas spin. This is all about protecting Cheney (and Bush by extension). Scooter is the sacrificial lamb. He was obsessive about Joe Wilson so leaking Plame was all his idea to protect his boss, who knew nothing about what his maverick underling was doing.
